As with any anthology, there will be bad and there will be good stories. I'm just glad that there's at least one story here that I actually liked (unlike another manga anthology I read recently).
1) The Gaze - 1/5 star
This is terrible. Essentially, a girl falls for a guy, but when she confesses her feelings, he tells her she’s not his type and then shows her the kind of girl he prefers: a stereotypical valley girl (or Japan's version of it). She then completely changes herself to date him.
It works; they're happy and have lots of sex, but it’s not really her—it's his version of her.
Some things happen that make her doubt his "love," and they almost break up, but then he says, "nah, I actually like you." And that's the end.
I’m not buying it. I’m pretty sure he only "started to like her" because she changed herself to please him. I really hated this story.
2) Deep Kiss - 3/5 stars
All the female protagonist wants is romance, but due to her large breasts, guys only want her for sex. One day, she meets a rude boy who is only rude to girls he doesn't like.
So, she devises a plan: seduce him, have sex, and then dump him! That'll teach him!
Except, she ends up liking him.
This is cliché, I know, but I actually liked it. It ended in a cute way :) plus, the sex scenes were great.
3) Magic Fingers - 1/5 star
With this anthology, it seems to be a hit or miss. This time, it was a BIG miss. The main characters are already in a relationship, but similar to the girl in the first story, this girl sacrifices her individuality for her boyfriend.
Actually, it’s worse: she explicitly says she likes how her boyfriend’s "magic fingers" turn her into a sex toy. Umm... okay?????
To top it all off, her boyfriend gets busy with work, and she gets angry, demanding he choose between his job and her. WHAT?!?!?!?
This girl is crazy, desperate, and not relatable. I think she’s the worst of all four girls.
The only redeeming aspect of this story is that the sex is very hot. But to me, that’s not enough to raise the rating. It was still terrible.
4) Summer Memories - 5/5 stars
Ah, THIS is the one I actually liked. The last girl in our anthology just broke up with her boyfriend and moved back to her hometown, where she meets her old friend and high school crush for the first time in ages.
She finds out he has a "girlfriend" and gets sad, but still makes a move on him. Things get steamy. They start hanging out in secret, and oh man, they’re so cute together!!
I actually started rooting for them, even though I despise cheating. But let's just say the story "fixes" that problem for me, which is why I gave it a high rating ;)
It’s sweet, it’s hot, it’s short, and honestly, it’s the best story this anthology has to offer.
