Zheren is a traveling merchant much like Kraft Lawrence. Zheren is a young man with brown hair and eyes, and a notable missing upper tooth. He is often shown with his eyes closed, wearing a nervous, shy smile. It's unclear whether his awkward, somewhat blunt demeanor stems from genuine inexperience or if it's just a facade to lure his targets. He encounters Lawrence and Holo while they are taking refuge at a monastery, presenting himself as a novice peddler with insider information about an impending shift in the currency market. In truth, he is one of many agents hired by the Medio Trading Company to deceive other merchants into buying devaluing Trenni silver. This scheme was designed to enable Medio Trading to manipulate the currency market and force economic concessions from the Kingdom of Trenni. Although Holo realizes that Zheren is lying, Lawrence agrees to his offer, hoping to profit by exposing the plot to a rival company. When Zheren reports the "deal" to his superiors, Medio Trading recognizes Holo's name and figures out Lawrence's plan.
