Shun Mitaka is the coach of the tennis club that Kyoko frequents and stands as Godai's rival for Kyoko's affection and attention. The two acknowledged their rivalry instantly upon meeting.

Renowned for his charm with women, Shun embodies the quintessential ladies' man. His appeal spans from his striking looks, athletic prowess, and smooth talk to his signature dazzling white smile – traits that sharply contrast with Godai’s. A childhood incident involving dogs left him with a paralyzing fear of them. Despite appearing as a pampered individual born into privilege, Shun is genuinely kind-hearted and diligent, deeply caring for Kyoko and concerned about entrusting her to someone he deems unreliable.

His bold advances towards Kyoko often had an ironic effect, fortifying her feelings for Godai instead. Shun becomes entangled in an arranged marriage orchestrated by his manipulative uncle to secure the Mitaka family's financial stability, compelling him to court Asuna Kujo.

Despite this, Shun continues to profess his love for Kyoko, leading to numerous complications. By the manga's conclusion, he ends up marrying Asuna.
