Shion is the original Grand Pope of Sanctuary and one of the few survivors from the Holy War of the 1800s. He also served as the mentor to Aries Mu, who would later inherit the Gold Cloth of Aries from him. Shion belongs to one of the last surviving groups that once inhabited the lost continent of Lemuria, also known as Mu. Because of this lineage, he possesses a lifespan far greater than that of an average human, enabling him to live for over two centuries. He is a close friend of Libra Dohko, who, alongside Shion, is one of the last survivors from the previous generation of Saints and was also the master of Aries Mu. (Source: Wikipedia)
