Rum is Fino's friend and guardian, as well as one of Van Quart's creations. The colorful "Bird of Paradise" that was auctioned off is actually a female from the same species as Kir, though this detail was only disclosed in the manga. In the anime, she retains her artistic colors.

When Rum was young, she was rescued by Fino's mother, who had a deep affection for birds. Rum consistently strives to take care of Fino and assists Jing in his final battle against Drambuie and the chameleon Dr. Spatlese. She inherits the last Kir Royale from the injured Kir.
