Masaki, a freelance journalist, was captured by Cronos and used as an experimental subject in the Zoalord development program. He served as a prototype body for Richard Guyot's Zoalord form. Dr. Yamamura, one of the scientists on the project, uncovered Guyot's plans concerning the Guyver units. To thwart the Commander during his transformation into his battle form, Yamamura recruited four prototypes, including his former student Murakami. However, the other eleven members of the twelve-member Cronos Council, all Zoalords, intervened. Masaki is the lone surviving rebel from this group. He teams up with Shou to combat Cronos, driven by his desire for revenge. Initially, he mistrusts Agito due to Guyver III's past ties with Cronos.
