The town's beautiful female mayor. She travels in an expensive, chauffeur-driven black car. She plans to close down Kokoro Library due to its under-utilization, believing it to be more of a burden on the taxpayers. It is not outrageous to conclude that Marie's disdain for the Library stems from her lack of understanding of its historical significance. Fortunately for Kokoro, Marie backs down when the entire city links her career's fate with that of Kokoro Library.
