Maho is Shūichi's older sister by one year, sharing a room with her. At the start of Hōrō Musuko, she is in the sixth grade of elementary school. Maho is an enthusiastic fan of a teen model named Maiko and dreams of meeting her. To achieve this, she submits her photo to a modeling agency and is soon hired as a young model in the same agency as Maiko. Maho has a keen interest in fashion and spends much of her money on new clothes. As she gains recognition as a model, Maho relishes the attention, enjoying being asked for autographs by strangers. Initially cautious about modeling, Maho quickly builds confidence and befriends Maiko along with two other models, Anna Suehiro and Tamaki Satō.
Unlike her younger sibling, Maho is outspoken and can be rough with Shūichi, sometimes hitting or slapping her. She strongly disapproves of Shūichi's cross-dressing, becoming angry and annoyed whenever she finds Shūichi dressed as a girl. Maho often imposes her will on Shūichi without considering her feelings. Upon reaching junior high school, Maho develops an attraction to her classmate Riku Seya, eventually starting a relationship with him.
