Kakeru Ozora was an astronomer with a dream of a princess living on the moon. He discovered a new comet, which he named Princess Snow Kaguya, and became obsessively fascinated with it. When he found a fragment of the comet that had fallen to Earth, he took it home for study. However, this comet was actually a vessel for an ice creature intent on freezing the entire planet, and the fragment gradually drained Kakeru's energy.
After rescuing a sick Luna from nearly being hit by a car, he took her home and cared for her until she recovered. Luna fell in love with him and wished to become human. Through the power of the Silver Crystal, her wish was granted, and she took Kakeru to see the moon from space.
His name literally translates to "flying in space."
