Franz Klaus is a renowned German pianist and Akira's father, remembered by Akira only for criticizing his playing as "disappointing." This criticism led Akira's mother to push him harder in practice, hoping for Franz's approval. He is currently mentoring Julian Clement. The relationship between Franz and Akira's mother was brief and stormy. Despite this, Franz financially supported them while maintaining his career and keeping a distance. After her death in a car accident, he continued to stay away from Akira, unsure of how to connect with him. Each year since then, Franz visits Japan and plays Mozart's "Requiem" in her memory within his hotel room, unable to visit her grave. To young Akira, Franz meant that while his playing was technically proficient, it lacked emotion and passion. Following Takami's intervention, Franz offers Akira the chance to study under his guidance in Germany.
