Crimson Rubeus, known simply as Rubeus in the English dub, is the first member of the Black Moon Clan to appear in the 20th century. His mission is to locate a person codenamed "Rabbit," who has escaped into Tokyo's past. Along with following Prince Demand and Wiseman's orders, he commands his own group of minions, the Ayakashi Sisters. In the anime, Rubeus is primarily loved by Cooan, the youngest sister, though most of the sisters are infatuated with him; only Petz, the eldest, does not share these feelings. After the Sisters are healed, Rubeus attempts to capture Chibiusa and kidnaps the Sailor Senshi, blackmailing Sailor Moon into exchanging the Silver Crystal for her friends. Sailor Moon comes to their rescue, and Rubeus takes both her and Chibiusa, who had secretly followed Sailor Moon, aboard his spaceship. A battle breaks out on the ship over the fate of the Sailor Senshi. Chibiusa eventually discovers and destroys the crystal controlling the spaceship, causing it to malfunction and catch fire. After Sailor Moon attacks Rubeus, the Sailor Senshi are freed, and they, along with Chibiusa and Sailor Moon, teleport away, leaving Rubeus stranded on his burning ship. Esmeraude then confronts Rubeus, who begs her to take him back to the future. Esmeraude refuses, stating that he has failed too many times to be of further use. His obsession with killing Chibiusa ultimately leads to his demise. The spaceship explodes, and Rubeus dies. In the manga, Rubeus kidnaps Sailor Mars, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Jupiter but fails to capture Sailor Venus. He is fiercely loyal to Prince Demand and appears alongside him to taunt the captured Sailor Moon. Rubeus becomes suspicious of Wiseman's true nature and confronts him, leading to his death at Wiseman's hands.
