Calaveras, known as Avery in the English versions, is the second oldest of the sisters and has the ability to communicate with spirits of the dead, similar to Tuxedo Mask. She utilizes the energy of her deceased sisters to attack Sailor Venus in the manga, though she fails to kidnap her. Named after the mineral calaverite, Calaveras serves as a counterpart to Minako Aino. Her weapon is a whip akin to Venus' Love Me Chain, referred to as the "Dark Love Whip" in the Sailor Moon R anime album and the Another Story Super Famicom RPG. In the manga, Rubeus seems to flirt exclusively with her among the sisters.
In the manga, she is the last sister to make an appearance, tasked with "Code:004, Operation Re-birth." Her abilities include channeling spirits, which she uses to bring Rubeus' spirit into Tokyo to brainwash humans and shift their allegiance from the White Moon to the Black Moon, aiming to destroy the Silver Crystal. When confronted by Sailor Venus during a channeling session, Calaveras channels the spirits of her fallen sisters and three captured Sailor Senshi through Kotono, Asanuma, and Naru to launch a Spirit Attack against Venus, capturing her. However, due to Tuxedo Mask's prior injury to Rubeus, he cannot complete his mission, leading to Calaveras' demise at the hands of Sailor Moon during Venus' rescue.
In the anime, Calaveras is depicted as a petty individual who enjoys teasing her siblings, particularly Petz. She avoids taking on missions herself, preferring to accompany Petz on hers and even attempting to claim credit for Berthier's final mission. Her final mission involves using a powerful stick to eliminate the Sailor Senshi while Petz deals with their now-purified siblings, Cooan and Berthier. During this mission, Calaveras urges Petz to kill the other two girls, but Petz, influenced by the stick, decides to kill all three. Shocked by Petz's betrayal, Calaveras receives pity from Sailor Moon and begins to understand human love. She informs the Sailor Senshi about the stick's power. When Rubeus creates a time-vacuum on the bridge using the stick, Calaveras saves Petz from falling into it with her whip. After the Sailor Senshi destroy the stick, Calaveras accepts purification, becoming a normal human woman.
