Brau-1589 is the first robot to ever take a human life, an event occurring eight years before the timeline of Pluto.
Naoki Urasawa's depiction of Brau-1589’s limbs bears a resemblance to the collapsible arms and legs featured in the design of Blue Knight or Blue Bon from Osamu Tezuka's Tetsuwan Atom. Blue Bon was a robot driven by hatred who violated robot laws by killing humans, ultimately meeting his demise when impaled through the chest by his own spear. The name "Brau" likely stems from the German word "blau," meaning blue.
