He transfers into Seisou's General Education department and joins Kahoko's class. Initially, he played the violin but switched to the viola due to a past incident. Kaji first encounters Kahoko at a local park, where he is captivated by her violin playing and declares himself her biggest fan. Despite lacking confidence in his own performances due to insufficient training, Kaji has exceptionally sharp hearing and can easily identify flaws in others' performances. He is also remarkably quick at tuning his instruments. Raised in a respectable and wealthy family, like Azuma, Kaji addresses everyone politely. However, unlike Azuma, he was given more freedom by his family. Kaji does not get along with Azuma, often exchanging sarcastic remarks with the upperclassman. He is one of the few, besides Kahoko, who understands Azuma's true personality. His grandfather owns a hospital, and his father is a politician. His grandfather hopes Aoi will major in medicine to eventually take over as the head of the hospital. Aoi is extremely intelligent and athletic, though he has a rebellious side.
