He was physically the strongest among the Gold Saints in the modern era and originates from Brazil. Unlike most characters, Aldebaran is often depicted as a friendly individual, laughing and being less serious during peaceful times. He was a good friend of Aries Mu and Pegasus Seiya (as mentioned in the anime adaptation of the Hades Saga, when Aldebaran sacrificed himself along with the other eleven Gold Saints to destroy the Wailing Wall). In a flashback from the anime version of the Hades Saga, he is shown awkwardly accepting a flower from an unnamed young girl, while Aiolia, Mu, and village girls around the Sanctuary look on. Although Aldebaran followed the Pope's orders, he grew suspicious of the Pope's integrity and tested the Bronze Saints during their invasion of the Sanctuary. According to Aries Mu, Aldebaran could have killed all of them if he used his true power, but Aldebaran responded that if his enemies were fighting so hard, then their beliefs couldn't be entirely wrong.
