I'm not rating this because I clearly didn't get very far in this, but the reason why I'm putting this on hold is because of the MC (Shi Jin).In his previous life he was a police officer, yet his character failed to match this identity in my opinion, except for some moments from what I have read so far. The feeling I was getting was that it only matched "when the author wanted it to." For instance, his fighting skills, his sometimes "professional" train of thought, etc. And it didn't match in places I assume to fulfill some to make him look cute or to achieve some other purpose. Idk, his character felt very hard to grasp because of this, and it was hard to get into the story, although the premise is something I would usually enjoy. Also, reading another story with the main character as a police officer, I can't help but compare the two because the one in that story fit the image of a "police officer" much more than Shi Jin (mc) ever did to me. I understand he is more than a police officer, he is a person as well, but with the book introducing him as though it was a major part of his character and failing to show the professionalism of one in some parts you would think it would shine was disappointing.Maybe I'm too sensitive and had my expectations of Shi Jin too high though, after reading the other CN book I mentioned before, watching a lot of true crime documentaries, and having a teacher who was a police officer lol (my teacher was a badass and still had a great sense of humor)
