This highly-rated book, "Fake Slackers," is an enchanting coming-of-age tale that beautifully captures the essence of young love and deep friendships. With a perfect score of 4.6/5, it's a must-read for anyone seeking a heartwarming and humorous journey.

The book excels in humor, particularly through the antics of the lively Class 3 gang. Each character, like the MC and their love interest (ML), shines with their unique quirks and dynamics. From the MC's fondness for sleep to ML's craving for attention, even the Know-It-All's gossip skills and the Gym Rep's love for food, every interaction is filled with laughter.

The Found Family aspect is equally delightful, featuring a grandpa who speaks volumes with his silent presence and actions, an shamelessly devoted ML, the lively Class 3 group that you can't help but adore, and supportive teachers who bring a touch of humor to the story.

The young love portrayed in "Fake Slackers" is endearing, with a slow-burn romance that blossoms naturally. The chemistry between the main characters is pure sweetness, punctuated by playful banter and flirtation.

Character development is another strong point, showcasing the growth and resilience of two troubled teenagers. Their relationships with friends play a crucial role in helping them overcome their struggles, creating a realistic and inspiring portrayal of adolescence.

As a coming-of-age story, the book expertly captures the bittersweet balance of hope, uncertainty, and exam stress that defines this stage of life. The overall tone is warm and optimistic, leaving readers with either a nostalgic or rejuvenating feeling.

Lastly, the author has created a captivating universe that fans would love to see expanded, whether in additional novels or fanfiction. "Fake Slackers" is a gem that stays with you long after the last page.

I completely concur with those who say that this story has a very high school romance vibe. If you're seeking a clichéd, typical romance novel experience with a first love storyline, this might be your cup of tea. While there's nothing inherently wrong with the main characters (MC and ML), their lack of depth and the generic plot contribute to the boredom. The conflict is unengaging, and unfortunately, I found the story so uninteresting that it took me nearly nine months to finish – I kept putting it down due to sheer boredom.

The novel, unfortunately, disappoints with a meager plot at 3 out of 5. While I understand the focus on school and slice-of-life themes restricts the inclusion of magical or fantastical elements, I was hoping for a deeper foundation to explore the characters' compelling backstories. However, this novel fails to deliver in that aspect.

The translation quality is subpar at 2 out of 5. There are instances where some context can be inferred, but numerous errors mar the reading experience. Pinyin without proper explanations, a practice that was once frowned upon, is prevalent, leading to confusion. Even when certain expressions are translated, their intended humor or puns get lost due to inadequate handling.

Lastly, the ethics of the situation score a disheartening 1 out of 5. I initially assumed the translation had a similar model to platforms like Suika, requiring proof of purchase, but it turns out it's a paid service without proper licensing. This means the author isn't receiving any compensation, and the translator keeps all the earnings, which raises concerns about fairness and integrity. It's regrettable to see such unscrupulous behavior from the involved parties.

The book was entertaining, essentially a light-hearted high school romance. It stirred up nostalgic feelings for me at times due to its resemblance to my own teenage experiences. However, I started losing interest towards the climax when the focus shifted more towards supporting characters and the dynamics within the class, rather than the central love story. Fortunately, it didn't suffer a major decline like many other danmei novels do.

Once the main characters realized their shared facade as slacker personas, the romance seemed to stall, and the plot meandered without direction, introducing unnecessary side arcs, such as the Basketball subplot, which had no romantic element. The author seemed to use these as an excuse to give screen time to the other characters, even intruding on the private moments between the main couple. Even minor characters became active participants in disrupting their moments, which was quite amusing.

This scenario is like two fake slackers supporting each other's fictional aspirations, secretly worried about falling into a stereotypical life path. It's a delightful irony that resonates, akin to savoring cold ice cream on a hot day. "Fake Slackers" left me with a grin and a tinge of nostalgia upon completion. This book is one of those rare reads I wouldn't mind revisiting, and for a good reason. If you appreciate relatable everyday stories, heartwarming relationships, and school-centric plots, why haven't you given it a chance yet? Give it a go – you won't regret it.

My rating is 4.5 stars. I would love for the authors to delve deeper into their university experiences and how they navigate coming out to their loved ones. Despite this, it's an enjoyable read, and I would definitely recommend it.

"Haha, I'm 19 and even I find it a bit odd reading this. It's light-hearted with lots of comedic moments, perfect for a high school tale. I guess 19 is the right age to enjoy this, right? Reading it at the same age as the main characters would definitely feel awkward, especially with all the teenage stuff going on, hehe."

This is my first review here, and I felt so emotionally moved that I couldn't help but give this national treasure of a story a well-deserved five-star rating. It's an utterly uplifting, funny, heartwarming read with the perfect balance of humor, tender moments, and subtle sensuality. Although I typically lean towards pwp/smut content, I've revisited this book more than twice and listened to the audiobook numerous times – the audio drama truly enhances the character dynamics when revisiting.

He Zhao, without a doubt, stands out as the most shamelessly entertaining male lead (ML) in ML history. His straightforward nature is invigorating, both in his relationships and within the school setting. The main character, Xie Yu, is also commendable, as a hot-tempered tsundere who evolves subtly, making him even more lovable.

The additional content in the Taiwan edition is simply delightful, let's just say. The four extras are filled with deliciously sweet moments. Hehehe.

    Now, a spoiler alert:

Not only do the extras offer a treat, but about halfway through the book, our protagonists' relationship takes a major turn, which adds to the overall sweetness. I adore stories where the couple comes together early on, but it does leave me slightly nostalgic when the tale concludes.

Overall, a fantastic read that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Alright, perhaps my sentiments cannot be conveyed perfectly, but I'd still like to share my thoughts on this novel. I stumbled upon the webcomic and instantly became intrigued. The story revolves around two intelligent leads, blending humor and set in a school environment. Perhaps due to my own school experiences, I found this tale incredibly heartwarming. Each chapter filled me with laughter and smiles, capturing the essence of youthful camaraderie between two seemingly mischievous boys who, despite their initial fearsome reputation, reveal themselves as endearing pranksters. They form friendships and get entangled in amusing situations. What I appreciate is the portrayal of these characters as relatable humans with their motivations, even though the protagonists take center stage. The supporting cast is equally memorable, and let's not forget the lovable teacher - this novel is a delightful blend of sweetness, lightheartedness, and humor. If you're looking for a fun, uplifting read, look no further! >_<!

Adorable indeed. This book resonated with me more than usual, perhaps due to my recent high school experience. It presents a simple and heartwarming story that's easy to digest, perfect for lifting my spirits on a tough day. The plot stays light and doesn't delve too deep, which is exactly what I appreciate.

The characters are well-developed and relatable – from their teenage struggles to their triumphs, they feel authentic and genuine. Even the pressure of college entrance exams is depicted vividly, showing how challenging it can be. The supporting characters are not just there for the main couple; each has their unique traits, adding depth to the story.

The relationships in the book are a standout feature. The connection between the main characters is endearing, without any unnecessary drama or grand declarations. Their slow-burning love is a delight to read. The bond between the protagonist and his mother, as well as the tight-knit community in Black Water Street, is beautifully portrayed despite their differences.

Lastly, the camaraderie among the classmates is another highlight. Watching them grow from carefree students to somewhat more mature individuals, while still retaining their lightheartedness, is a joy to follow. Friendship is truly the driving force in this story.

In summary, I highly recommend this book. It's an adorable, heartwarming read that will warm your soul. Give it a chance, and you won't be disappointed!
